The Reiki Asia Board (RAB) was founded in Mumbai, India—a vibrant hub where ancient wisdom and modern energy medicine converge. Our purpose is to establish a unified, authoritative, and internationally reiki therapist standard across Asia, the ancestral continent of Reiki.

Over recent decades, Reiki has experienced explosive growth worldwide. However, this expansion has also led to inconsistent standards and diluted lineages. The RAB was created to restore the rigor and authenticity that have too often been forgotten. With the deep cultural heritage of Asia, we provide a spiritual home for all practitioners dedicated to Usui Reiki.

India is the cradle of energy medicine—including the chakra system and Ayurveda. Locating our headquarters here symbolizes our commitment to connecting Japan’s Reiki tradition with Asia’s profound spiritual roots. The RAB is more than an office; it is a bridge between East Asian lineage and South Asian healing energy.

What is Reiki?

Reiki is neither a religion nor superstition. It is an energy balancing technique that integrates physical and spiritual dimensions. REI means universal or divine wisdom. KI is the vital life force flowing through all living beings, equivalent to Qi in TCM and Prana in yoga.

Reiki supports balance across four levels: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. It activates deep relaxation, relieves pain, strengthens immunity, releases emotional trauma, calms anxiety, clears mental fog, and supports spiritual awakening.

The Legacy of Usui Reiki

In the late 19th century, Dr. Mikao Usui embarked on a journey in Japan to attain the state of An-jin Ryu-mei — deep peace and true stability. He studied Buddhist and Christian scriptures, and mastered Traditional Chinese Medicine and psychology. He eventually realized that true healing must integrate both body and spirit.

In 1922, he completed a 21-day fasting meditation on Mount Kurama in Kyoto. On the final day, a powerful light awakened his energy consciousness, and he discovered his ability to heal others instantly. He named this system Usui Reiki Ryoho.

Mikao Usui established a school in Tokyo and trained key disciples such as Chujiro Hayashi. Later, Hawayo Takata brought Reiki to the West. The mission of the RAB is to preserve the integrity and authenticity of these century-old lineages across Asia. Every registered member must provide a lineage traceable directly to Mikao Usui.

Usui Reiki is guided by five core ideals: Just for today, I will not worry. I will not be angry. I will be grateful. I will do my work honestly. I will be kind to every living thing. These principles form the foundation of genuine Reiki practice.

Membership & Professional Standards

Level 1: Entry Path – For self-healing and family care.

Level 2: Practitioner Path – Professional practice, distance healing, symbols.

Level 3 / ART: Advanced Practitioner – Deep energy work, psychic surgery.

Master Teacher: Educator Level – Teaching, initiation, lineage preservation. Minimum 2 years of practice required.
